Needle-Punched Film-Covered Bentonite GCL (OF)

GCL-OF series is a needlepunched, thermally reinforced composite comprised of a core of natural Wyoming sodium bentonite clay between two durable geotextile layers to form a low permeability hydraulic barrier. The top layer is a staple fiber nonwoven  geotextile while the bottom layer is a scrim (woven) reinforced nonwoven geotextile. The product is intended for moderate to steep slopes and moderate to high load applications where increased internal shear strength is required. Product intended where subgrade conditions are rough in nature, prevent shrinkage below geomembranes, and/or where hydraulic head conditions may apply.

What is Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL)?

HX® Bentonite Geosynthetic Clay Liner(GCL) is a new type of geosynthetic material. It is a blanket-like waterproof membrane made of graded natural sodium bentonite particles and corresponding additives mixed as raw materials. The bentonite particles are fixed between geotextiles and plastic woven fabrics through a needle punching process. Bentonite waterproof blanket not only has all the characteristics of geotechnical materials, but also has excellent waterproof (seepage) performance.

What are the different types of GCL?

Geocomposite GCL: Geocomposite GCLs combine the sealing properties of bentonite clay with other geosynthetic materials, such as geomembranes or geotextiles. This type offers enhanced performance in terms of chemical resistance, puncture resistance, and durability.

Adhesive-Bonded GCL: In adhesive-bonded GCLs, the bentonite clay layer is adhered to a geotextile using a specialized adhesive, creating a robust barrier against fluid migration.

Sprayed GCL: This type involves applying a layer of bentonite slurry directly onto a geotextile. It offers an alternative method of constructing a clay barrier.
