Polypropylene geotextile and polyester geotextile are two common geotextile materials.
Polypropylene geotextile and polyester geotextile are two common geotextile materials. Their main differences are raw materials, performance and application scenarios:
1. Raw materials:
- Polypropylene geotextile: Made of polypropylene (polypropylene) fiber. Polypropylene is a lightweight material with good chemical resistance and corrosion resistance.
- Polyester geotextile: Made of polyester (polyester) fiber. Polyester has high strength and wear resistance, and also has good acid and alkali resistance.
2. Performance:
- Polypropylene geotextile: Generally has a lower density, so it is lighter in weight and has good acid and alkali resistance and corrosion resistance. But it has poor performance in high temperature environment and is easy to age.
- Polyester geotextile: It has high strength and elastic modulus, good wear resistance, and is suitable for application scenarios that require high strength and high wear resistance. Polyester geotextile also has good tolerance to ultraviolet rays.
3. Application scenarios:
- Polypropylene geotextile: Usually used in environments with high corrosion resistance requirements, such as marine engineering, anti-seepage engineering, etc., because of its strong chemical corrosion resistance.
- Polyester geotextile: Due to its high strength and wear resistance, it is often used in civil engineering, such as road construction, dam reinforcement, tunnel protection, etc.

In general, the choice of geotextile depends mainly on the specific engineering requirements and the use environment. If higher tensile strength and wear resistance are required, polyester geotextile is usually selected; for scenes with harsh chemical environments, polypropylene geotextile may be a better choice.
