Geotextile is an engineering material widely used in civil engineering, construction and environmental protection.
Geotextile is an engineering material widely used in civil engineering, construction and environmental protection. According to its manufacturing process and use, geotextile can be divided into the following categories:
1. Classification by manufacturing process
Woven Geotextile
Features: Fibers or filaments are woven into cloth through a weaving process, with high tensile strength and low ductility.
Application: Mainly used in projects requiring high strength, such as reinforcement, supporting structures, foundation reinforcement of roads and dams, etc.
Non-Woven Geotextile
Features: Short fibers or filaments are bonded together through needle punching or thermal bonding processes, usually with good water permeability and filtration capabilities.
Application: Commonly used in drainage systems, filtration, isolation layers, soil protection and slope reinforcement, etc.
Composite Geotextile
Features: It is composed of two or more layers of geotextiles, combining the advantages of woven geotextiles and non-woven geotextiles.
Application: Used in projects that require multiple functions, such as comprehensive needs for anti-seepage, protection and reinforcement.
2. Classification by application function
Reinforced geotextile
Function: Increase the stability and bearing capacity of the soil, mainly used to enhance the soil structure.
Application: road foundation, slope, retaining wall, etc.
Filter geotextile
Function: Block soil particles and allow water to pass through, prevent soil erosion and particle loss.
Application: drainage system, dam, slope protection, etc.
Isolation geotextile
Function: Prevent the mixing of two different materials and maintain the independence of materials.
Application: road, railway foundation, rockfill dam, etc.
Impermeable geotextile
Function: Prevent liquid penetration, used to prevent groundwater pollution or prevent water loss.
Application: landfill, reservoir, tunnel, etc.
3. Main application areas
Road and railway engineering: used for roadbed reinforcement, drainage, isolation layer, enhance roadbed bearing capacity and extend service life.
Water conservancy project: used for river slope protection, dam anti-seepage, protection, drainage, etc.
Environmental protection engineering: used for anti-seepage and drainage systems in landfills to prevent pollutants from seeping into groundwater.
Construction engineering: used as an isolation layer in foundation engineering to prevent mixing of different soils or materials.
Port and coastal engineering: used for protection and reinforcement of seawalls and port terminals.
The selection of geotextiles needs to be based on specific engineering requirements, such as tensile strength, permeability, anti-seepage and other factors.
