‌How to use the mulsch correctly

Mulsch is a protective product widely used in agricultural production. It is mainly used to prevent weed growth, maintain soil moisture, and promote crop growth. It is made of polymer materials such as polypropylene or polyethylene. When using it, you need to choose a suitable weed-proof cloth, clean the ground before laying it, fix it firmly, and replace it in time if it is damaged.

1.Preliminary preparation:

①Remove weeds: Before laying the weed-proof cloth, you need to remove the weeds on the ground, especially the weeds with thick stems, to prevent damage to the weed-proof cloth.
②Prepare the ground: Level the ground and ensure that the ground at the tree trunk and the ground outside the ground cloth have a certain slope, with a height difference of about 5 cm, so that rainwater can quickly flow to the rainwater collection ditch on both sides and be effectively absorbed by the roots.

2.‌Laying the weed-proof cloth:

①Marking: Mark the line according to the size of the tree crown and the selected weed-proof cloth width. The line is parallel to the row direction. Use a measuring rope to draw two straight lines on both sides of the tree disk. The distance from the tree trunk is less than 10 cm from the ground cloth width. The excess part is used for pressing and overlapping in the middle.
②Covering: Bury both sides first, then connect the middle. Dig a trench along the previously marked line with a depth of 5-10 cm, and bury one side of the weed-proof cloth in the trench. Use a "U"-shaped iron nail or iron wire to connect in the middle, and overlap by 3-5 cm to prevent gaps from appearing after the weed-proof cloth shrinks and breed weeds.
③Laying drip irrigation pipes: For orchards with drip irrigation equipment, drip irrigation pipes can be placed under the weed-proof cloth. One drip irrigation pipe can be placed close to the tree trunk in each row of young orchards, and one drip irrigation pipe can be placed along the outside of the weed-proof cloth in mature orchards.

3‌.Later maintenance‌:

①Fix the weed-proof cloth: Use plastic nails or bury it in the soil to fix it to prevent the weed-proof cloth from being blown up or moved by strong winds.
②Dig rainwater collection trenches: Dig rainwater collection trenches with a depth and width of 30 cm along the row at 3 cm from the edge of the ground cloth on both sides of the ridge surface. The bottom of the trench is required to be straight to facilitate uniform distribution of rainwater.

4.‌Precautions‌:

①Choose suitable weed-proof cloth: Choose weed-proof cloth with suitable light transmittance and good air permeability according to the environment and characteristics of crop growth, and ensure that it has sufficient tensile strength and corrosion resistance to extend its service life.
②Storing weed-proof cloth: After the crops are harvested, the weed-proof cloth should be folded neatly and stored in a ventilated and dry place to avoid long-term exposure to sunlight or humidity to prevent it from aging or damage.
