When laying HDPE geomembrane, you need to pay attention to the construction environment, construction preparation, laying process and follow-up work. Only by strictly following the construction specifications and requirements can the long-term and stable operation of the geomembrane project be ensured.
What should we pay attention to when laying HDPE geomembrane?
When laying HDPE geomembrane, the following aspects should be noted:
1. Construction environment
Temperature control: The construction environment temperature needs to be maintained at 5~40℃. In view of the obvious thermal expansion and contraction of HDPE geomembrane, if the ambient temperature is relatively low during construction, the geomembrane should be laid compactly, and when the ambient temperature is high, the HDPE geomembrane should be laid loosely. In summer, the ambient temperature is high, and the HDPE geomembrane should be avoided during the high temperature period at noon.
Wind force level: If the wind force level during the construction process is relatively large, exceeding level 4, it is not suitable for the construction of HDPE geomembrane. If the environmental wind force level is small, heavy objects such as sandbags should be covered on the HDPE geomembrane to avoid deviation of the HDPE geomembrane during paving.
Rainy and snowy weather: Rainy and snowy weather is not suitable for the HDPE geomembrane paving process. If construction is necessary, practical protective measures should be taken.
2. Construction preparation
Surface requirements:
Flatness: ±2cm/m², flat and straight.
Compaction degree: 95%. The geomembrane can be laid on it only after rolling.
Longitudinal and transverse slope: The longitudinal and transverse slope should be above 2%. The contour ditch and structure at the bottom of the landfill should be conducive to the diversion of leachate.
Cleanliness: There should be no sharp debris such as tree roots, rubble, stones, concrete particles, etc. within a vertical depth of 25cm.
Material preparation: According to the records of the measurement of the laying base surface, cut large bundles of geomembranes, record them by number, and transport them to the laying site according to the number. Note that the geomembrane should not be delayed or pulled hard during transportation to avoid sharp objects.
3. Laying process
Laying direction: HDPE geomembrane is best laid in a certain direction, and a certain PE film and PET non-adhesive layer are reserved on both sides. When laying, the direction of each unit geomembrane should be adjusted to facilitate the welding of two unit geomembranes.
Laying order: It should extend from the bottom to the high position, do not pull too tight, and leave 1.50% margin for partial sinking and stretching. When laying the slope, the film spreading direction should be basically parallel to the maximum slope line.
Joint treatment:
The laying of HDPE geomembrane should strive to minimize the welds, and try to save raw materials while ensuring quality. The overlap width of the joints between membranes is generally not less than 10cm.
The longitudinal joints of two adjacent sections should not be on the same horizontal line, and should be staggered by more than 1m. The longitudinal joints should be more than 1.5m apart from the dam foot and the bend foot, and should be set on the plane.
There should be no oil or dust on the welds, and the overlap section of the HDPE geomembrane should not be sandwiched with mud and sand and other debris. When there are debris, it must be cleaned before welding.
When welding the slope, the length direction of the weld should extend along the slope and cannot cross. Minimize the welding of the side feet and scattered membranes.
Precautions:
When laying HDPE geomembrane, avoid artificial wrinkles. When the temperature is low, it should be tightened and laid as much as possible.
After laying the HDPE geomembrane, you should try to avoid walking on the membrane surface, moving tools, etc. to avoid accidental damage to the membrane. During the laying process, the quality of the geomembrane should be checked at any time. If there is any damage or defect, it should be repaired or replaced in time.
