Geocell construction is a complex and delicate engineering activity, which involves multiple steps and links, each of which requires strict operation and quality control. In order to ensure construction quality and safety, it is necessary to strictly abide by construction specifications and operating procedures, and strengthen quality control and safety management.
Ⅰ. Construction preparation
1. Measurement and layout: First, it is necessary to determine the laying position of the geocell according to the engineering design drawings and make accurate layout. This step is the basis for subsequent construction and must be ensured to be accurate.
2. Inspection of the lower bearing layer: Before laying the geocell, it is necessary to check the surface flatness, compaction, roadbed width and other contents of the lower bearing layer. These inspection items must meet the design requirements and be approved by the supervision engineer before the geocell can be laid.
Ⅱ. Geocell laying
1. Base treatment: Level the dried base soil and use a vibrating roller for static pressure to ensure that the base is flat and dense. According to the needs of the project, sometimes a certain thickness of medium (coarse) sand needs to be laid, and leveled and compacted again.
2. Geocell layout: When laying the geocell, the bottom surface should be flat and dense. Generally, it should be laid flat and straightened without overlapping, curling or kinking. Two adjacent geocells need to overlap a certain width (such as 0.2m), and the overlapping parts of the geocells need to be connected with iron wires along the roadbed. On the laid grid, galvanized U-shaped nails are also needed to connect and fix the cells.
3. Tensioning and fixing: During the laying process, the geocell needs to be tightened longitudinally and transversely to keep it in a tension state to ensure its protective reinforcement function. At the beginning of laying the geocell, the prepared nails can be hammered into the roadbed with a hammer to fix the geocell.
III. Backfill and compaction
1. Backfill material: After the geocell is laid, backfilling is required. The backfill material can be soil or gravel, but the quality of the material must meet the design requirements. The soil or gravel during backfilling must be a certain height (such as 2~5 cm) higher than the top surface of the geocell to ensure that the thickness after compaction meets the design requirements.
2. Compacting operation: After the backfill is completed, a vibrating roller is needed to compact the backfill material. During the compaction process, the driving speed and vibration frequency of the roller need to be controlled to ensure that the compaction effect meets the design requirements. At the same time, horizontal measurement is also required to prevent uneven filling thickness.
IV. Subsequent treatment and maintenance
1. Slope repair: After the roadbed is filled, the slope needs to be repaired in time to ensure that the slope and flatness of the slope meet the design requirements.
2. Slope foot protection: In order to enhance the stability of the slope, dry stone protection is also required at the foot of the slope, and the settlement amount is reserved.
3. Vegetation restoration: After the construction of the geocell is completed, in order to protect the environment and prevent soil erosion, some grass seeds with good growth and strong adaptability can be sown on the slope. At the same time, in order to protect the grass seeds from being washed by rain and exposed to the sun, a layer of non-woven fabric can be laid on the slope. After the grass seeds germinate and grow to a certain height, the non-woven fabric is uncovered for subsequent management and maintenance.
V. Precautions
1. Construction weather: The laying of geocells is best carried out at noon when the temperature is highest every day to avoid deformation or damage of materials due to excessive temperature changes.
2. Quality control: During the construction process, the quality of each step needs to be strictly controlled. For example, when laying geocells, it is necessary to ensure that they are flat, dense, without overlap or curling; during backfilling and compaction, the thickness and compaction of the backfill material need to be controlled.
3. Safety measures: During the construction process, safety operating procedures need to be strictly followed. For example, when using heavy equipment such as rollers, it is necessary to ensure the safety of operators; when working on slopes, appropriate protective measures need to be taken to prevent people from falling, etc.
