1. Basic characteristics
Appearance: The finished product is cloth-like, generally 46 meters wide and 50-100 meters long.
Classification: Geotextile is divided into woven geotextile and non-woven geotextile.
Function: It has excellent filtering, isolation, reinforcement and protection functions, as well as high tensile strength, good permeability, high temperature resistance, freezing resistance, aging resistance, corrosion resistance and other characteristics.
2. Advantages and disadvantages
Advantages:
Good air permeability, filtration, heat preservation, water absorption and waterproofness.
It has a certain degree of elasticity, is not messy, feels good, is soft and light.
It is elastic, recoverable and has no directionality of fabric.
Compared with textile fabrics, it has high productivity, fast production speed and low price, and can be mass-produced.
Disadvantages:
Compared with textile fabrics, it has poor strength and durability.
It cannot be washed like other fabrics.

3. Application Fields
Highway Engineering: Used to strengthen soft foundations, and also to isolate and filter; can also be used to build wrapped retaining walls or abutments, as well as to reinforce flexible pavements, repair cracks on roads, and prevent pavement reflection cracks. In addition, it can also be used as an isolation layer between road ballast and roadbed, or between roadbed and soft foundation.
Water Conservancy Project: Placed on the slopes of rivers, lakes, and seas, it can prevent water from eroding; can also be used for vertical or horizontal drainage inside earth dams, buried in the soil to dissipate pore water pressure; at the same time, it can also be used for drainage behind the anti-seepage geomembrane in earth dams or earth embankments or under the concrete face.
Other Projects: It can be used as reinforcement in retaining wall backfill, or for anchoring retaining wall panels; it can also increase the stability of gravel slopes and reinforced soil, and prevent soil erosion and freezing damage to the soil at low temperatures. In addition, it can also act as an isolation layer between artificial fill, rock pile or material field and foundation, and can also act as a filter and reinforcement between different frozen soil layers.
4. Precautions
The geotextile rolls should be protected from damage before installation and unfolding, and should be piled in a flat place without water accumulation, with a height of no more than four rolls, and covered with opaque materials to prevent ultraviolet aging.
During transportation and laying, the geotextile should also be protected from damage. Geotextile rolls that are physically damaged must be repaired, and those that are severely worn cannot be used. Any geotextile that has been exposed to leaked chemical reagents is also not allowed to be used.
The connection of geotextiles must comply with relevant regulations, such as no horizontal connection on the slope. If suturing is used, the suture line must be made of the same or better material as the geotextile, and there should be obvious color difference for easy inspection.
