Regular inspection and repair of welded geomembranes, keeping them clean and dry, preventing mechanical damage and chemical pollution, and recording and maintaining the status can ensure long-term stable performance and extend the service life of the geomembrane.
How to maintain and preserve geomembrane after welding?
1. Regular inspection and repair
Regular inspection:
It is recommended to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the geomembrane at regular intervals (such as every quarter or according to the actual situation of the project).
Focus on checking whether the weld is damaged, aged, displaced or pressed by the covering.
Timely repair:
Once the weld or geomembrane is found to be damaged, aged, etc., it should be handled immediately.
During the repair, the same or compatible material as the original membrane material should be used for repair welding or bonding to ensure that the repaired weld has the same strength and anti-seepage performance as the original weld.
2. Keep clean and dry
Clean surface:
Regularly clean the debris and accumulated water on the surface of the geomembrane to avoid long-term accumulation of water or accumulation of debris.
Accumulated water will not only increase the weight of the geomembrane, but may also accelerate its aging process; while debris may scratch the membrane surface and affect its anti-seepage performance.
Dry environment:
Try to avoid exposing the geomembrane to strong sunlight for a long time to reduce the aging of the material caused by ultraviolet radiation.
If conditions permit, sunshade nets or other shielding materials can be used for protection.
3. Prevent mechanical damage and chemical pollution
Avoid mechanical damage:
During construction and use, avoid direct contact of sharp objects and heavy objects with the geomembrane to prevent the membrane from being punctured or torn.
If it is necessary to cross the geomembrane laying area, it is recommended to use a protective mat or take other protective measures.
Prevent chemical pollution:
Geomembrane should avoid contact with oil, rubber water, strong acid, strong alkali and other chemicals to prevent these substances from corroding or damaging the membrane.
4. Record and maintenance
Record maintenance:
After each maintenance and inspection, the maintenance situation should be recorded in detail, including maintenance date, maintenance content, problems found and treatment measures.
These records help analyze the service life and performance changes of geomembranes and provide reference for subsequent maintenance work.
Professional training:
Provide professional training for operators and maintenance personnel to ensure that they are familiar with the characteristics of geomembranes, correct maintenance methods and precautions.
Improve the quality and efficiency of maintenance work and reduce geomembrane damage caused by improper operation.
